Clyde "Butchie" Thompson
I first met Clyde at a 7 Heaven gig we did in North Miami. He was hired on the spot by a recommendation by Suzanne our female lead singer.
I had never met Clyde before his first gig with us in North Miami. He showed up on time with his Mom in tow. His Mom wondering why no one had come to pick up Butchie for his first gig. I said who is this woman? I soon would find out.
Clyde was a great musician but seemed to be a bit out of step with the rest of the band, possibly due to enhancements?
I continued to work with Clyde for several years during and after 7 Heaven and High Profile.
I believe he had great potential as a songwriter but sadley it never materialized.
Over the years I grew fairly close to Butchie often talking with him on the phone for hours. We even attended an Oakland Raiders (his favorite team) game at Joe Robbie Stadium and yelled together at Al Davis as he entered our end of the end zone ... AL! Mr. Davis!
I was saddened to hear of his passing at such a young age.
